Found a 8.25 in pretty good condition for about 200.00 but it is not a sure grip, posi trac or what ever nomenclature is used for Mopar, hey forgive me this is my first Mopar. What I want to know is, to make it a sure grip, can I simply use the housing, replace the internal guts about 300.00 and axles, about 150.00 and then the normal stuff, shock mounts, u bolts etc. I am trying to keep this rear end swap to under a thousand dollars , or at least my wife is, and I am at around 650.00 now,but I can't complain, she bought me the Dart!!!!

A sure-grip, some aftermarket axles (added insurance) and that 8.25 should be okay behind just about any smallblock/auto combo.

This has the original 318 and I believe 904 tranny, the fender tag decoded says light duty transmission, with a 4brl, dual exhuast, and I am definitely installing a shift kit, I just want to put as much to the rear tires and ground as possible without completely changing this car since it is all original except for the carb and paint.

You can usually find a decent deal on a 3.55 sure grip from a Dakota or Jeep. Just make sure of your axle spline count....
