I have a 8 3/4 cone type suregrip unit for sale. Looks to be in good condtion, just been setting under my shelf with other axle parts. Pin location shows no signs of wear. Should fit all 8 3/4 cases. Asking $225.00 plus the shipping to your location. Please PM me here is you are interested.

The pinion nut backed off at some point. Very common problem. That's a very common thing to see on 8 3/4 cases. Not a thing wrong with the case. Those are just marks where the pinion backed into the case at some point when the nut backed off.

Of course it is not possible to tell the wear on the cones and case without taking it apart. Have you had it apart?

Even if it's a core and the cones need to be trimmed and shims put in, it's a good price on it. I would get it myself if I had the extra dough.

To answer the questions , that have already been answered. The marks on the case are from the pinion nut backing off like has already been stated. It is very common to see on a lot of 8 3/4 sure grip units for some reason.
It does not hurt the use of the unit. Just a cosmetic thing.
I have not had it apart. It is a used core unit and priced according. Not a new part a used 45 year old part.
As of now it is Sold pending payment if that deal falls through there are several others in line for it.
