8 3/4 question

I have a 8/34 489 10 spline 3.91 with a spool with a 1350 u joint in the car now and I also have a 742 with 3.23 and a sure grip and a 7290 u joint 10 spline which I would like to put in the car .

the question is can I just take the 1350 yoke off and put it on the 742 without a new crush sleeve and just torque the nut and go .
I don't want to wait 2 weeks for a conversion joint or a new yoke .

A 742 does not use a crush sleeve, they are shimmed, so yes you can remove the yoke without upsetting the depth.

thanks I don't have a fsm but about 100ftp on the pinion nut ?

Use red loctite and at least 140 ft lbs min.

Dr.Didf has conversions joints for that size.

I ordered a new 1350 yoke from Cass at Dr Diff this way I can easily change center sections without changing the u joint every time .
