8 3/4 sure grip ID ?

I have an 8 3/4 center section with a sure grip . It has a 742 case. I do not know which type (clutch/cone) of sure grip I have. Is there a way to ID the sure grip. By looking at it ? Can someone tell me what to look for to spot the differences ?

The 742 came from the factory with a clutch type. Unless it has been swapped out, that is what it has. Do you have the case removed? If so, the clutch type carrier is a two piece design with bolts that hold it together go in in opposite the side from the ring gear.

If it is a cone type, it is a two piece case with the bolts going in from the ring gear side.
