8.8 Measurements

I’m sure this topic has been dug 25’ into the ground but I am just beginning the process of getting my 8.8 ready to put in my dart. My stock 7-1/4 is measuring out at 51” flange to flange. My 8.8 is measuring out at 54” flange to flange. I’m trying to run a ten inch rear wheel without relolocating or chopping up the car. If I trim the inner wheel well back, would 54” be a better length? My axle tubes are identical length so I don’t have to chop them. Looks like the 54' will get you away from the springs, but it's going to put you into the outer wheel house at the quarters. You may have to go to 8 inch rims instead of 10's. I've been dealing with the same thing on my brothers 68, we hate to cut it because it's such a unrusty car, but want 10 inch rims, thought about doing the super stock thing but decided to keep it in the quarters I think were going to move the springs in and mini tub it to get 10's under it. He's not using the super stock scoop now, he bought a GTS hood for it, he painted the rear super stock wheel cut out dimensions on it but decided to keep a more stock look and didn't cut it.

I agree with mitch I may be wrong but I dont think your gonna fit a 10 inch under there regardless of the axle length without a mini tube and a spring relocation. The only way to go is out and then your gonna have to cut the fender out and have the tires 3 inches outside of them haha I have 15x7 and they look tight to me.
