904 2wd vs 904 4wd

I have a 1983 dodge ram 4 x 4 with a 360 and a 904 automatic my tranny is slipping and I found a good 904 2wd and I honestly haven't messed with one in so long I can't remember if they interchange or of the tailshafts are different. Help!:roll:

Your truck should have 727 in it, the 4wd 904 only came in early 80's 4cyl jeeps. The tailshafts are different on a 2wd trans vs a 4wd trans, they cant be swapped without taking the whole trans apart.
