904 No 2 or D

Question for the trans guru's.

I have 73 Dart 318 904. Has had Lokar kick down and throttle cable hooked up. I believe the kick down is adjusted properly, free at idle moves with throttle. Also has had a torque converter replaced, not sure of stall.
This car was raced, had NOS and other things done to it, manual valve body? Not sure.

Problem is I have no 2 or D. I do have low and reverse. I did have d a couple times but not consistent.

What could the problems be? Kick down adjustment? and what else. Pressure? Stall too high? Other areas to look?

Just got back from a drive and if I manually shift into 2 it will slam you back into the seat. But I am unable to start out in 2 or d just 1.
 
Probably the only to be sure is too get in the vb and check.
 
Sounds like a stuck governor.
Since it did go into second, we know the front band is not the problem and niether is the forward clutches.
Inconsistent shifting is a clue to sticking valves in the valvebody or governor.
