904 NO REVERSE

I am wondering what is the proper low reverse band adjustment on a 904 connected to a 225 slant 6. I backed mine off 2-1/2 turns after tightening and it did not fix it. I could feel the transmission try to engage reverse but did not do anything I do not know how to tell if the servo is bad or if I need to replace the strut. It goes in to gears 1-3 just fine.
