Hey everybody
I'm on the final assembly side of rebuilding a 904
My question is this transmission was missing the cupped race for the selective washer between the input and output shafts.
I got one yesterday but I want to make sure I'm installing it correctly.

Does it cup over the washer
Or cup over the input shaft?
I using tom hands rebuild book but it doesn't say anything about it..
Thank you. Mike

I rebuilt mine several months ago and never ran across anything like that. I used Carl Monroe's book and the old video.

I'll be interesting to see what more experienced folks say.

Yeah Idk
Called and talked to Robert @ A & A transmission
Last week about it and he said if the selective washer is steel then it needs the cupped race
But if its fiber then not needed?
I didn't know then to ask which way it goes.
It seems to me it would cup over the washer
But I'm not 100% sure on that..

I found this exploded view
Looks like it shows the race under the selective washer.
Item number 233

If I could get a fiber one today I would probably go that route.
Just trying my best to get it done today..
Thanks for the input guys..

Ok
So all back together
With the transmission standing on the output shaft it has .022 input shaft end play
Lifted up suspended it has .047 total end play.
Should I leave it there or tighten it up a little?

What do you guys think?
Thanks in advance. mike

Ok so just an update
Talked with Robert @ A&A this morning
About how the thrust washer race is installed
He told me it caps over the input shaft.
I'm glad I called because I couldn't find any info showing it, and what looked right to me was wrong...lol

Thanks FABO
