hey guys

I am almost ready to pull the /6-904 and drop in a 360-727 combo
the car is a 71 duster with the column shift and my question is...will everything swap over?
(I know the slip on yoke wont fit) but will the shifter linkage work?
(I will be installed a lokar kick down cable)
will the speedo drive bolt right in?

anything else im overlooking?

Shortening your driveshaft about 4"
Yes the speedo housing and gear will go right in the 727 exactly as it came out of the 904 same as the the neutral safety switch

glad to hear that

I will need to have some work done to the shaft to make it slide on the 727 since the yoke is too small for it right now

will my shifter linkage line up and operate the way it should ?

The rods should be interchangable however I have found that over the years the rod ends and the shift arms have changed the way they connect to one another. if the rod does not attach the same way to the arm on the 727 now, replace it with the arm that is on the old 904.

gotcha

it looks like the person who pulled the 727 for me used a torch to cut the part of the linkage off so I have both the arm and the first 2 pieces of the linkage from the 727

once I get the 904 out ill compare the two

so I counted 30 splines on the 727 output shaft
does that mean I can just buy a 7260 slip yoke and have it mated to the existing driveshaft?

or is the spider gear (is that the right word?) different in the 904 yokes?

got the 360 and 727 in :)

cant remember for the life of me exactly how to install the shifter linkage

the part that goes through the bushing in the bracket bolted to the transmission and mounts (somewhere) to the car

its the car part im not seeing
