working on a 75 duster -- owner bought a salvage 904 from a
1980 new yorker.
1) will this work for the 360 swap(v-8 -904)
2) is this a lock-up type tranny?
a. how to tell
b. how to use in a 1975 duster?

i'll get pictures later-- just need to know if this transmission will work? thanks Lawrence

Here is the difference between the two.

using my 904 on my 360.. however 360's are externally balanced (wheights on torque converter)

youll need to find out what motor was in front of that 904. if it was a 318 youll need a different torque converter/ or flex plate but im guessing youll get a new converter anyhow

what tranny is in that duster now?

^^^^^ basically what duster wonder says ^^^^you need a weighted converter to run it behind the 360 , or a weighted flexplate. if the converter has a weight tack welded to it, you are good to go, if it doesnt, you will need to find one or look up a flexplate at summit or jegs

thanks guys-- it is a lock -up style-- will there be any problems running this type of tranny-- anything different to hook up? Lawrence

CAN the lock-up style tranny be used in a 1975 duster-- does it need different wiring -- or can it be installed with correct converter & go?
