904 trans lock up or non lock up

I just got a 904 trans out of a 85 5th ave. now what should i look for to see if it is a lock up or not? don't want a lock up right. Hey i got the motor to all for a 100.00 bucks and it runs. i have ran 727 all my life don't know crap about a 904. if it is a lock up i am going to go with the 440 /727 in my dakota,

I Forgot Exactly How To Tell But I Am Pretty Sure Yours Is A Lock Up If It Is From 1985.

Lockup 904 transmissions input shafts have 26 splines non lockup have 27.

If it's a lock up it will have 1/2" of the end of the input shaft machined down smooth where-as a non-lockup has splines all the way to the end.
