I tried ta tell efferbutty dere's gunna beez prollems when they gave TF's freedom of choice...but nobutty listoned.
Thanks for the pics. I took the VB apart and put it back together in the exact same order. Still nothing with 2 valve bodies. It's got to be something else. I made sure the sealing rings were on good with assembly grease. And most where steel seals and not to many Teflon. Here is what I mean. I included other pics so u can check to see if u got the valves in right. This is TF-2 shift kit instructions just for comparison. Look at the last pic first. Idk why some are upside down. Kim

Says 81,82,83 non-lockup? I'm still thinking that the direct clutch clearance is way too loose. Or you have so much end play that the direct drum feed holes aren't lining up with the space between the rings...or there's ring wear inside the direct drum. If it's worse when hot, it's ring seal. By the way, the closeness of that kd arm to the shift arm is scarey. If the kd arm connector is low, and the shift arm connector is high, then hitting the gas will push it into reverse.
Yes the PK420 transmission is the silver one, it was in the car along with a 1981 Cast year slant six in my 75 Dart. I could never test the transmission when I bought the car since the engine had 3 sticking intake valves and the cylinders were so worn. First thing I did was pull both and rebuild. Not sure what was done to it in its life so anything is possible. Is the PK420 trans the silver one in the last group of pics? That doesn't make sense. That silver one looks to be a pre-71 trans because the casting in front of the rear servo is further forward than the later ones I've seen. I always watch out for mis-matched case/vb combos.
That's so weird that the silver one is a PK420. The case looks like it takes a non-PTK valve body. Is that non-ptk the vb for it on the purple towel? I thought all tf after 71 had the PTK, but I'm really beginning to wonder. I just picked up a later case PK360 with the longer casting by the rear servo, but it didn't have ptk. The vb matched but no ptk on it. I'm trying to assemble a database to figure out which trannss had ptk based on PK#.
