I joined recently and I am just getting started so for now here are is some food for thought.

I just scored a 318 and 904 transmission out of a 1972 Barracuda for $200.00 deal is to good to pass up, both will need to be rebuilt I want to put them in my 1970 Swinger (currently a six cylinder/automatic car).

I know theres a list of things I am going to need to aquire before the swap but I already have started with the K-member wihich is one of the biggest hurdles.

Any idea where I can locate the tranmission linkage and kick down I think I am going to leave it a colum shift car going for looks and relibility more than performance.

Plan:
Block: Punch the motor over .030" which will give me a 3.94" Bore
Crank: Keep the original crank 3.31" Stroke have it polished and magnfluxed for cracks if the crank is shot or my mood changes I will switch to a new 3.58" stroker crankshaft for the 318/340.
Cam: ? not sure Yet but I want a mild street cam that is capable of everyday driving
Heads: Edelbrock Performers 2.02" intakes and 1.60" exhaust ported and polished
Induction: 6 pack or single 4 bbl not sure about the intake if I go with a 4bbl?

what do you guys think?

Well, first off, welcome to FABO!! Now, you're going to have to decide just what intake and carb you're running before you can seek out any kickdown linkage, especially if you're running a six pak! If you are running a single 4 bbl, the 340 3 piece linkage is available, and you should put a wanted ad here, someone will have it!

The shift linkage is the same between your 6 cyl trans and an 8 cyl trans, so unless you don't have any linkage at all, you can just use the slanty stuff!!

Thanks for your input, I lost the deal on the 318 and transmission the guy sold it to someone else before I could pick it up this past weekend. However my plan is still intact Small Blocks are a dime a dozen (ok not that cheap but they are cheaply found)
