I have a 4spd I picked up in a trade and it is not an OD trans. It does need syncro's and a seal kit. It did have a new front bearing and seal put in years ago. It was pulled from a car 15 years ago from a running/driving car. $400 + $40 for crating, plus the cost of shipping and %3 for PP. It's all cast iron pretty heavy

It should fit any A-body but, if it is a 1966 transmission it's a bit of an oddity. 1966 A-body 4-speeds were a 1 year only deal that used a 26-spline output shaft (same as a 904). From 1967 on, they used a 30-spline output shaft (same as a 727).

Also, I seem to recall reading somewhere that a 904 slip yoke will not work correctly because of the output bearing and seal setup. I can't seem to find that off hand though.

Perhaps the seller can count the output shaft splines or post a picture of the shaft?

Hmmm. I'll have to try one of my 904 slip yokes in it to see. The 66 year was a 1st year and most only carried to 67. The 67 auto is a 2 year only trans for 66-7.

The flange-style output was dropped for the 1966 models, and the slip-yoke tailshaft was introduced. The long tailshaft versions utilized the larger 30-spline output shaft (same as the 727 Torqueflite) and the short tailshaft version the 26-spline output shaft (same as the 904 Torqueflite). The production of the 1967 383 big block-powered Darts and Barracudas mandated the addition of the 30-spline output shaft in the A-body transmission, which was expanded to include all A-body transmissions in 1968.

What I get from that is just use a 904 slip yoke since it is the short shaft and it should be a direct bolt in for an already 3 spd or 904 car since they share the same yoke.
