Did a test fit of the 5.7 into the K-frame tonight, and noticed it was impossible for the A/C compressor to fit with the motor mount right there. I have an 05' LX motor. I know the truck compressors mount up high, but I would really rather not switch to a truck intake and timing cover, and or build spacers for my current car intake...anyone looked into this?

Most of the guys I've seen do it have made it work with the pre-72 mounts. Gdemon made a bracket to move the AC compressor up, is that possible with the spool mount?

Any chance you can post pics of the problem? I'll start asking around to see if there is a car front cover and AC compressor I can test fit on mine as well.

I have a spool type 73, and a truck front cover. I've been looking for a car cover, but if it's not going to work because of the spool mounts, then I may have to change my plans. There is a way to make the car intake work with the truck timing cover. 5.7 Hemi on this site made it work.

Here is Gdemon's post on making the AC work with his non-spool K frame and mount. Hopefully the pictures will post.

I dont have any pics handy but i will try and take one tonight of the proto type one i made first out of sheet metal. The new bracket is made from 1/4" alum. I basically took the A/C compressor and rasied it up so that the bottom bolt ended up in the top bolt hole if that makes any sence. You also have to cut the back lug off of the compressor for it to clear the motor mount. I also welded a tab to the motor mount bracket to help support the A/C on the top back bolt.

I dont think the K frames are all that different just the motor mount area. I dont see how you could get a power steering box in there. I'm using manifolds and have no room. I also had to change to a flaming river u joint to connect the steering box to the colmun.

You can see the tab in the one pic that is attached to the motor mount.

Do you have a pic of a spool mount mounted to a motor ? I can look and see if the bracket i made might work

If I remember right there is 4-5 inches from the back of the A/C pulley to the theoretical interference point.

Took a look at a 300 compressor today, and it looks very short. I need to get one from a local junkyard and see where it hits...worst comes to worst, I make a new motor mount for that side.

Compressor is too long by about 3-4 inches. I want to keep the stock location for it, so I moved the motor mount to the rear 2 holes, and I'll probably be modding the K-frame to move it back to match the mount in that location. After moving the mount back, plenty of clearance for the A/C compressor and lines.

I fabbed my own after experiencing the same problem with the TTI conversion mounts. I was even able to keep the oil filter in the stock location.

Looks like exactly what I had in mind. I'm still a fan of the relocation kit so when I take the oil filter off, it doesn't dump oil all down the K-frame in general...was never a fan of that on the 440 Challenger we have...
