I have a 225 out of a 1970 2WD truck. It has a large cast iron bell housing and a New Process 435 transmission. There are 4 large bolts that attach the trans to the bell housing and 3 bolts that hold the bell housing to the block. So my question is,

If I take out the 4 bolts holding the transmission to the bell housing, shouldn't I be able to separate them by sliding the trans out the back? Or if I disconnect the transmission from the block, shouldn't the whole assembly come off, leaving the flywheel / clutch / pressure plate attached to the crankshaft?

I've got everything disconnected but nothing wants to coma apart. Did I miss some of the attaching fasteners?

Thanks,
Ken

The four bolts holding the trans to the bellhousing should be all you need to remove the trans. There are more than three bolts holding the bell to the block, and there should be two braces on the bottom side as well.
