I had a friend turn it down and when he was almost done I heard “Oh ****”!!!!... He stripped the threads!!! Now the replacement switch takes a 15/16” (old 7/8”) socket but it won’t fit because of the transmission housing. Do I need an original switch or can I make the new one work? Thanks FABO!!!!
Thank you, that’s great information!!!! I ended up buying a NOSBoy does this look familiar!! Ok , Here's a fix. First, get the new switch milled .050 . Then, stuff the hole where the switch goes with cotton or whatever to keep metal from getting into the trans. Then, you will need to bevel the outside lip of the hole with a grinding tool until you can expose more of the 15/16 nut. Install new switch using thread lock . Or, just find a NOS reverse switch. (good luck with that! ).
No Problem! BTW, did you install the new switch yet? Is it working ok?Thank you, that’s great information!!!! I ended up buying a NOS
