a999 trans

Ive got a 999 lock up trans out of a 87 or 88 car in my duster.last night it stuck in first gear.does not shift on its own or with shifter.the linkage is working correctly outside of the trans.so is the kick down linkage.when i drop the pan what do i look for.? And the front pump seal is now leaking.thanks

Does it go into reverse? If the only gear you have is first and the front pump is leaking, sounds like rebuild time to me...

When i opened it up it has a few issues to deal with.As ive never overhauled a 999 or 904 this should be interesting.

+1, easy check before pulling the tranny too.


If you do decide to rebuild it, I saw a series of videos on youtube that seemed liked they had alot of detail. Might want to look at those before taking it on.

Does anybody have this CD ROM? I know the 727/904 manual is pretty good. I just found this "manual" for 904/999:
