How many 400 horse 360s out there that run like **** down grandpappys pant leg after the sunday chili potluck .
Quite a few. You could take a motor that makes 300 400 whatever horsepower and stick it in a car with the wrong gears and converter ,manifold and the rest.. and have as much go from a dead stop than a well tuned 64'-65' 225 valiant
sounds like my combo from 1982
340 727
11 to 1
243@50 507 gk in 108
headers 2 1/2
torker
650dp
unilite
L-60-14 26.99 tall
3.23s
stock verter
12.8 on the 107 trapping in 2nd
mid 13s no spray
wrong gears wrong verter tall tire and a torker door stop
dont think 225 valiant would be close now you can tell me those run 11s
car weighed 3650 lbs with me in it 107 mph about 400 crank hp

What I said was leaving the line would probably jump faster than a mismatch combo with bad gears and converter, but of course I'm using extremes for examples to make my point.
318 isn't a 340/360, but I brought it up..lol I've witnessed plenty of 327 Corvette builds that got bolted in front of stock verters and 3.08 gears that were absolute dogs. No good tuners to boot.
There are plenty of smart guys that can make tossed **** run fast too, goes both ways fair to say.
Take the cam with the stock vert and 3.23 and thousands of miles fried *** head with sunk seats and even less squeeze then it had stock..

I'll take a set a fresh ported heads with 60-64cc chambers open or closed any day when theres already a 4 barrel and performer type intake ontop.
