First 4x4 I have ever owned. My parents bought a 2012 Grand Cherokee 70th Anniversary Overland Edition with a Hemi and no longer need this one. It's a 1996 Grand Cherokee Laredo with the AMC 4.0. It has 111k miles.

I have work out some minor bugs. I just swapped in a new oil pressure switch. It needs a cat. FM radio doesn't work. I'm stuck listening to sports radio on AM. The rear hatch strut need to be swapped out. Currently using the vise grip method. There is a slight rubbing sound coming from rear end...very minor.

nice, ive had a few XJ cherokees, all 4.0 litre HOs. they have all been very good to me.i had one that had turned 300,000 miles before i sold it.

ZJ's are cool but Xj's (Cheep Cherokees) don't roll, lol. Inside Jeep joke. :)

Check out Quadtrcrack..... I mean Quadtratec.com... Dang brother, you can spend years worth of salary there on a ton of cool stuff.

Enjoy Grant!

Thanks 73AbodEE. I have great respect for the XJ's. I've always wanted one. I like the rugged looks of them and they are true 4wd's built on real truck chassis'.

If anyone else has an XJ or ZJ, post your pics!

4.0 HO with 11k? It'll last forever, no joke.

Enjoy!

LOL Ramcharger. My parents have been retired for a while now and do not rack up a lot of mileage. Also, the GC was never a DD for them. The funny thing is that my 65 year old mom didn't feel that the 2012 GC V6 had enough power so she had to buy one with a Hemi.

She is correct! That 4.0 HO is torque monster and the only thing that will beat is a real V8. Mom knows her stuff....

1998 XJ pictured w/ 3.5 inches lift and 31s, since become a 4.5 inch lift and plans to go to 33s...

That is a cool Jeep. Those 4.0 Liter engines will go 250 k to 300 k if you take care of it. Do you have the 242 transfer case? That one is the best. It has the most options of two wheel and 4 wheel drive that they offered. With a set of Goodyear GSA tires, they really go great in the snow (long story). Believe me I know. I was on a few "test drives" with them back in the day. I wrote the "Change Notice" to release the cowl grille on that year just before I transferred to a different job.

I got down to replacing some of the "little stuff" the past week.

I replaced the rear hatch supports over the weekend and new wiper blades.

I had a new cat welded in on Friday. The old one was rattling and triggered a CEL. Both issues are gone. Exhaust shops in Cali charge an arm and leg for cat work.

I just ordered pass side marker + parking light housings, rear glass supports (yeah...don't know why I didn't check along with hatch), and Kenwood HU. I need a working stereo. I plan on splitting commuting duties with my DD.

Dimmer switch is also causing guage lighting issues. There's a good write up on Jeep Forum about fixing it.
