I thought I would share photos of the trial fit I did this morning of my Very modified 67 Dart K Frame.

This "New" K Frame was built completely on the stand and engine locating attachments/fixtures that mount to the k frame stand that I designed and built. It was never in the car when the mounts were fabricated and made.

I also converted the 67 idler arm to a 68 and up idler arm using the information posted by @moparmat2000 here k frame dilemma

I originally modified this K Frame back in the winter of 1999/2000. At that time I relocated the factory k frame mounts and used the small block motor mounts and cut and boxed it for a custom "Home-Brewed" oil pan.

Here is a photo of that k frame.

This worked... But I could never get the engine/ header/torsion bar/steering clearances all where they should be.

Fast Forward to last Fall and Winter.. (This project got put on hold until now due to hip replacement surgery and recovery)

I had to remove my 512 engine due to an oil pressure problem... That is a whole another story....

Anyway, I always remove and install my engines and transmissions from the bottom.

I had a made a k frame transmission carriage years ago. And again, it worked, but not great.

So Before doing any engine work, I decided to fix and redo these issues first.

The first thing I did was to design and build a "Stand" to hold the K frame in the same position as it bolts to the frame of the car.

I made this stand using 2" x2" square steel tubing.

Here are a few photos of that stand.

There is far more to this stand then what you see here. It has additional parts and pieces to hold and position the crank center line to TTI specifications as well as to position the engine/transmission assembly in the correct front to rear position.

IF there is enough interest I will try to do a post with measurements and more photos...

Anyway, here are photos of the "New" "Home-Brewed" Big Block Dart B Body Engine Mount K Frame and the trial fit in the engine bay...

Keep in mind that these are 2" TTI headers. and the engine is setting on most likely 60 year old rubber mounts... I do have new 440 Source mounts to install.

The header clearance on the right fender is right at 1/8" and about 1/4" on the Steering box.

I am going to install the new mounts and see if these clearance will improve. I may need to shim the mounts to get where I want to be.

Wow, I have serious respect for you fellers that can fab like this. I couldn't fab my way outta a wet paper bag.

Hmm. I did a DC conversion on a spool mount K frame like many others. Problem was the K frame did not bolt up to car due to being wrecked.
Ended up putting the spool mounts on my 68 k frame. Looks like the B body mounts take up less space than the spool mounts? Mainly on the driver's side. Kinda wondered about doing those mounts when I did mine.
I also moved my steering box slightly outboard that was a PIA.

I have an extra set of holes drilled and tapped about an inch to the drivers side for the steering box. I used those when I ran power steering. The manual box clears so no need to move it over...
