...topic comes up all the time.I thought the factory ran the coolant through the rad to warm it.
The transmission guys i talked to said to keep your transmission fluid between 180 and 190 degrees.
On my last car with a Dynamic 9 1/2" converter i rarely saw the temperature above 160 using just a 5" x 12" plate style cooler so on my current car i just use the line through the rad like the factory built it.
If you are not towing or racing maybe you don't need one.
