hey fellow A bodiers.
i've started my 68 barracuda rebuild. p/u my rebuilt 727 w 2400 stall and 8 3/4 rebuilt w 3.55 sg yesterday. what a great day. thinking about installing a 408 stroker.
ready for a few ?'s
1- i was looking at the hotchkis sport tune complte kit w leaf springs, tubular upper control arm and so on. ? has anyone used this kit? did you like it or would you go with something else. i like that it lowers the rear an inch
2- i have a stock manuel steering box, great condition. keep it or replace it with what?
3- thinking about using a 1 inch torsion bar will this interfer with a set of long tube headers?
4- best kit to rebuild front end?
5- would you reccomend a sub frame kit?
thanks for the advice?

2- i have a stock manuel steering box, great condition. keep it or replace it with what?

Keep it; allows more room for exhaust options.

3- thinking about using a 1 inch torsion bar will this interfer with a set of long tube headers?

Should be fine, remember the amount the exterior demention of bar adjacent to exhaust is half the increase of its diameter over stock. Stock V8 bar is around 0.870” subtract from 1.00” = 0.130” 0.130” / 2 = .065” or about nothing…

4- best kit to rebuild front end?

Use high quality North American produced parts.

5- would you reccomend a sub frame kit?

Absolutely, this will give you the most bang for the buck tightening up car to handle output of a 408 stroker over stock offerings from factory.

One other consideration that is a must; be sure to match camshaft to converter stall speed, and rear gear, or you will end up with an expensive collection of parts that don’t play well together resulting in disappointing performance, and fuel consumption.
