I have a wiring question for some aftermarket gauges and stereo. I have a 1970 Plymouth Duster. I recently replaced the dash pad so i took out the instrument cluster to get at the nuts holding on the dash pad. The previous owner installed aftermarket tach, voltage meter and stereo. Can I get power for these off the fuse box? And if so where do I land them. Previous owner had them all t tapped into the wiring harness and used a butt connecter to terminate all of them. After re-wiring the tach after having to remove the cluster, I started my car after 100 miles or so of driving it and it died. Tried starting again and the wiring for the tach, stereo and volt meter started smoking. So the second question being why this happened? Possible difference in gauge wiring?
