Aftermarket shifter in a stock console...again

I know a couple of you have doen it. What shifter did you use, did you chop it up so it would fit? I was looking at either the B&M Hammer or the QuickSilver shifters but should I get the stock one and not use the plastic housing or should I get a console shifter even though they are listed for the Camaros and Fireturds?
I want to lower the hight of the entire console while Im at it so I will be making my own brackets for it.

Sorry, saw you were talking about putting it in a console.....haven't done that yet.
