Alex Chilton lead singer for the 60's group The Box Tops Has died. He was 59.

folks are probably like, "Who?"

short answer is that Alex Chilton wrote the song "In the Street"
Cheap Trick covered it as the theme to "That 70's Show"

The song was originally on an album by his band Big Star.
The record was called #1 Record and it is one of my all time favorites.

Anyone who does not know Big Star should check it out.

Big Star are often overlooked but they produced some of the finest 70's power pop. RIP Mr Chilton.
