Alternator Trimming question

Using this pic I found...

How much trimming is done for this? Can anyone give me a measurement? I'm gonna trim it out while I'm working on the engine bay.

Looks to be about 1/2"

Switch to the Jeep alt and no trimming is needed.

I understand trim to the frame.. But how much?

If I remember correctly it had been posted before that just trimming back the flange to the frame rail itself was sufficient.

I trimmed the overhang only as well. Clears, just barely. The plastic aroun the stud is touching the fender though. 73 duster.
