Aluminum Drive Shaft Options?

-
bringing this up again, I have a question about an aftermarket chromoly trans slip yoke I have... like the rear, it has u-joint caps. what is the purpose of this? Is one style better than the other? one good thing I guess is when pulling the DS, you can leave the yoke in and not have fluid drip all over...

For the same material, solid design is typically stronger(engineers like)and has fewer parts(factory bean counters like). If a solid yoke was practical at the axle, it would have been used there too...but its not, so its not.

With that said, your super duper yoke is far stronger than a solid stock yoke even with its bolt/clamps, so you're good.

I was wondering how an aluminum shaft 3.5" in diameter would fit. Exhaust fitment issues brings up a good point...I have 2.5" TTI X-pipe exhaust...I am in the market for a driveshaft. Dana 60, 4 speed, 408ci SB.

3" shaft and 3" exhaust is tight but fits.

So in theory 3.5 shaft and 2.5 exhaust should be fine or even looser fit.
