aluminum rim question

Some years ago I had an alum rim that was gouged.I had the lip welded and machined and it looked almost a good as new.

I know it's possible but has anyone had aluminum rims widened and what was the cost? I would like to widen the american racing rims I have for the back from 6" to at least 8".

Fewer companies are doing this because of the liability issues.

I bet it would be less expensive to buy 2 new wheels. Are the wheels you have still sold?

Nope they are not sold?
Why did I say they were?
If so sorry to have mislead you.The wheels I am currently talking about are American racing 14"x6".There are 4 of them so I thought it would be cool if I could use them. I did have them poted for sale awhile back.
