It safe to assume there are some here that like “old school” and tend to be nostalgic.
So I'm giving a nod to this movie.
Just happened to find it and watched it last night on netflix.
It won’t get much attention of ET, but I found the premise delightful.
The alien’s high tech weaponry doesn’t work on WW II technology.
Plus what little boy worth his salt doesn’t like battleships with those big guns?
The acting for the most part, isn’t awful. Except for the poor guy that plays the admiral.
Peebles does a remarkably good job. And there are hot ladies in tight pants and low cut shirts.
The special effects are extremely low budget.
If they would have had more to work with like actual footage in The Final Countdown or better computer FX, then a thinner Independence Day comes to mind.

It’s almost like they thought: “We realize the special effects are cheesy. Let’s focus on what we can. And we’ll even make the aliens over the top goofy. Not too scary. Sort of like evil floating fairys”.

The movie is a salute to the Iowa and it's Class.
