ampmeter showing negative charge

My 72 duster is showing a negative charge. I changed the alternator and voltage regulator. Still not charging. What are the possible causes? My battery is not that old, but could that be the cause?

check wiring...is regulator grounded properly?
did you buy a cheap one?....ive had them off the shelf no good

Check the connection at the back of the gauge (I`ve seen many loose or broken there) as well as all of your wiring and connections in the rest of the circuit. This might sound silly but, is the belt tight enough?

Sounds like time for amp gauge bypass time. If you havn't already done so you will find your problem more than likely.
