I had pulled a homeowner's electrical permit. I had not planned on rewiring the basement, as it was not fire damaged. I had an electrician I met via my neighbor "help" me with the rough in. I had called electrical for a "consultation" to see where I stood.
So he comes over, turned out to be a pretty good guy. Says, "I can tell an electrician wired this, who is he?" I told him his first name, met via my neighbor.
At this point we are still in "consultation", not actual inspection, and he says, "if I see him here at inspection I will fine him, otherwise, I will not pursue it."
So I asked him some other points, he looked things over, wanted to see the basement, and I explained that had been redone in '03. He actually reached up and examined a couple of random cables and there was the date. And THEN HE SAYS
"OK, I'm just going to go ahead and sign off on rough in." All he wanted, really, other than the issue with a hired electrician, is to have me go around and install nail plates anywhere less than 1 1/4" to the face of the 2x4's. SO WE CAN GET POWER IN HERE!!! And get rid of the extension cords!!
Next is plumbing, and I'm still not sure what there, as well as a pressure test on my gas piping, fire stop in the floor holes, etc, and move further towards a framing inspection.
After that will be fix the manufacured chimney leak, ceiling, blown in attic insulation, and install wall insulation.
