Good day all,
The same old what pistons for my 383 thread. Have a 68 383 and a set of eddy rpm performer 88cc heads. Not too sure on cam yet but would like around 10:1 compression. Really leaning towards the Keith Black 400 dome pistons but cant find anyone that has ran them. Suggestions? Thank you

Diamond has pistons for the 383 using the 440 rod.Non stroker application.

RustyRatRod did have a 383 with the KB domes, but I don't think he ever got a chance to run them...

About the only way you're going to get a true mechanical 10:1 with a 383 and 88cc chambers would be to have a little dome on them (if you actually want valve reliefs). Even if you zero deck a 383, the valve reliefs along with the big chambers won't get 10:1...even .020" out of the hole with .025" shim gaskets, you'd only get about 9.6.

The other side of this discussion is to accept less than 10:1...unless you have a very specific idea in mind, it's not needed. Check out IQ52 for low compression builds--to include 383s
