Anyone have the front off their motor and willing to take a measurement for me? I need to know how far from the front face of the block to the outside of the cam and timing chain. Something like an 1".

Need to figure out some clearances for my crank position sensor idea.

Thanks.

From the face of the block to the outside of the chain is about 1-1/16", just a little over an inch. From the face of the block to the outer edge of the fuel pump eccentric is 2". And from the block to the inside of the chain is 1/2".

Here's some more input:
First, it depends upon where you measure. If you look at the front of the engine block, you will see that it is machined about 1/8" deeper on the passenger side, from crank pulley up to cam sprocket. If you measure chain on driver's side, by cam sprocket, you will measure 1/8" greater than if you measure on passenger side.

Measurements on my 360 motor, with double roller chain, are as follows:
passenger side: 1 1/4" to front of chain, and 3/8" to inside of chain
driver side: 1 3/8" to front of chain, and 1/2" to inside of chain.

Remember, listen to the MELVINS.

I should have been more clear. I need the measurement from the machined surface that the timing chain cover seals to.

Thanks again fro the info!
