went to Carlisle swap meet on friday. i was. walking around and saw a 64 valiant ragtop and 63 valiant station wagon for sale. i text them to jamie because I've wanted one of each actually. never expected to buy either, i get a text back that her and Rylee want a truck.

i walk around taking pics of trucks that are affordable. being the first day of a three day event most didn't want to move off the price. looked at two short bed square bodies. one was a ness, the other i wasn't sure about the body and it was a 6 cyl. I'd get bored of that fast and then open a can of worms putting a v8 in it. also looked at a 68 d100. they really liked that but it was man steering, man drum brakes and a three on the tree. i was like you aren't gonna enjoy driving it more then just ince in a while. plus hard and expensive to find parts for it.

i looked for a dodge i saw earlier and it was already gone. not sure if it sold or the owner left for the day. it was a nice clean truck but in hind sight I'm glad i didn't buy it. just yoo hard to get parts for them. expensive too.

ended up picking a 74 C10 up. clean original honest truck. i need to do some brake work and odds and ends but nothing serious. drove it the 130 miles home. motor runs nice and it shifts as it should. goes down the road nice and straight. only issue was a bad belt in the front tire. i knew they were old and needed to be replaced when i looked at it.

got home and pulled the cap off. jamie and rylee didn't like it. then i looked online and couldn't believe the about if parts available for this thing. amazing. can rebuild the entire thing from a catalog.

plans are to make it safe, do all the PM on it and drive it until we can save the money yo lower it some. UMI has a nice kit that you don't have to notch the frame so its still useable and its not stupid low . hopefully we can go that route in the future.

very nice .....been learning about the old dodge ...plan on driving mine all the time ....but lucky to have found most of my parts
how much where they asking
looks much better without the top
a set of wheels will go a long way ...a set of rallies ...

Truck is cool and yeah parts availability is crazy strong support.

Eldersburg Maryland thats like 20 minutes from me.

Small block V8 or 6 cylinder?

Carlisle ?
I understand that they hold a variety of events throughout the year but what specifically was this event? Was it just an all makes and models swap meet?

Love the square body GM trucks, had at least 8 of them over the years, favorite was a 1980 GMC heavy half. Biggest problem is rust but that one looks pretty solid still.

ha my least liked Chevy is the square body
I Did have a 78 suburban
that a put a 85 body with a 90 nose
406 sbc super charged
my fav is the 66.......
