Another wiring idea? 3D print

Wanted to share a work-around that I used on the wiring harness of the Scamp! Doing a complete wiring harness change and wanted to bypass the factory firewall plug connectors. Found this print program online and used it to 3D print a clean box to cover the factory hole in the firewall and run my wiring through. The bottom flat surface prints with 2- 1/2" holes that I opened up to be one long oval. The wiring will go up in the opening and be covered in loom. The loom will then be slid up into the box and that will finish off the firewall side. I'll close off the box from the inside then to keep dust, fumes out of the passenger compartment.

the black piece is my new dash port cover for the brake system that will be installed soon, hopefully! lol The brake booster rod goes through it.

So it sounds like your wiring itself will have no bulk head disconnect, wires will all be one piece?

If so you may find that to be a real pain for installing and hooking up inside etc…?

That's pretty cool. Ever consider using bulkhead connectors that would attach from the bottom?

I've seen some OE harnesses like that, typically with a grommet for where they go through the firewall. It usually isn't a problem if you use a bit enough grommet.

not a fan of that. wires will com in and down only to have to come back up. also not a fan of not being able to separate it at the firewall.. never know when or why you may have to disconnect it.. pleanty of better then stock connections out there for the firewall..

I’m with Abodyjoe x2. Having restored quite a few now I couldn’t imagine doing it that way. I see zero benefit, just negatives.
But of course it’s your car and you’re free to do what ever you want! Good luck with your project

Well I guess that's why I'm not you OR Abodyjoe! I have wired many a project for myself and others. I was just showing another visual of a way to pass the wires through the firewall. You see the Negatives, I see a work-around for a project. You are correct, it is my car and I think outside of the factory box most of the time.
