Any advice for pulling the steering wheel

I have seen people crack perfect steering wheels that way. Back when I was young I used to do it that way but no longer.

Well, I'm still young. That's probably why i think it works. But i can see how it could be potentially damaging. On newer wheels it's probably not as dangerous due to them being made of softer stuff. I think I have probably pulled the wheel off of every car I have ever owned this way.
