Hi Folks

Just wondering if the Canadian Govt. has imposed tariffs on auto parts imported from Rock Auto?

Lets not turn this into a political discussion please.

Anyone............

Thanks FABO

They seem to have a unique strategy for importing. I assume their prices include duties. The last time I looked at a few items I thought their prices seemed high…perhaps more to do with incoming duties from their off shore suppliers than Canadian duties.

I know 1person seems to have been charged actually crossing the border.

I just got some stuff from Laysons, no drama, pay tax and shipping, as per usual.
The USMCA is supposed to still be in effect was what I was told about 3 weeks ago by the Customs dude here in Victoria.

Not sure they will go after antique stuff, but there was talk of duties on under $800 on the US side, - which was something we enjoyed and shouldn't change.

It's the US that's the issue. Going down for the US folk is where things get foggy.

I got dinged 25% tarrif and 13% HST on top, buying a $100cdn pair of seat belt boots for my '66 from a private individual in the USA. Our "leader" is charging 25% on vintage car parts entering Canada.

We need a sympathy button, and no im not being sarcastic. That sux, especially since you are talking about a sale from one individual to another.

I wonder about shipping via UPS or FedEx? Maybe thru Canadian Post they are more on top of stuff. Reporting wise.

Maybe see if you can ask rockauto (via chat probably) but they usually look after all import fees. I don’t know how they do it but it seems like a unique arrangement. They must import to rockauto Canada. I have never paid an additional fee when buying from them.

Prior to the tariff bs, RA, SUMMIT and JEGS all charged everything up front(finally lol) and let u know before you hit the "buy" button.
So i would think if anything changed they would inform us on their site?
Good to know some retailers/couriers are still cooperating.
I suspect Dadsbee got hit due to the pkg being a "private sale"?? With a declared value?
Looking at a $1600 purchase and will be shipped via UPS by the looks of it.

i know one of my friends bought something from europe to nj and dhl tried adding tariff after they sent it ...he denied it
all fees should be highlighted before shipping

The seller / shipper has no idea what day to day BS is changing at the border with tariffs and counter tariffs. Tariff fee application all depends on what the contents description states is in the box and what the tariff code is for same. The 9966.000 code for vehicle parts over 25 years old coming INTO Canada is getting nailed for 25%, as is the code for Plastics and parts.

Of all things private sale items should scoot across scott free. Vendor sales, while none actually should be, I can see being tagged.... but not buying a part from some old guy in Iowa !

I agree totally, whats next, charging a 25% tariff on Christmas gifts that we send to family down to the US or vice versa??
