Anybody know of a lightweight steering column kit

I will say this jegs kit is super easy to build.
Im picking up a plate of 3/16 6061 aluminum this week to build the bolt in part on the firewall.

I used a kit from Speedway Motors on my Duster that turned out well, it did require some fabrication though.
I'm looking to try a more bolt in friendly style this go round.
We'll see...

I can vouch for that twisted metal column in boosteds duster. Nice piece.
 
I made the ones I have in my 74 Duster and the one in my 63 Plymouth. I also just read all 3-pages of replies to be on track with my reply.

First there is absolutely nothing wrong with Delrin (plastic bushings). Delrin is generally considered to be a self lubricating material.

So the need for roller bearings is something that is just not required in a race car. All Pro Stock cars use fabricated tubular columns and Delrin bushings.

I used a Borgeson U-joint. 3/4" seamless polished stainless steel tubing for the shafts, and a Mark Williams quick disconnect for the steering wheels.

It's not that hard to fab up a nice unit.

Very nice. Yes delrin is a really nice & durable material.
