I know that many of you don't go back this far, but in the Spring of 1962 my father bought a '62 Chevrolet Impala with the (then) new 327 engine. A few weeks later, the local dealer contacted my dad to ask him to bring the car in to have its pistons replaced. Something was wrong with the pistons they originally used in the 327, and they had to do a recall. Does anybody else remember this, and what was the reason for the piston recall? For the life of me I can't remember why.

IIRC, they put domed pistons for higher compression & it lead to valve to piston clearance at higher RPMs.
