Anyone know about headliners........

I have a 69 Dart that has a cardboard headliner that isn't in very good shape. I will need to re-do the headliner and thinking of a reg. headliner. What is involved with replacing the cardboard with a cloth or other headliner?
I asume you have to get headliner bow's somewhere but are the holes there to hook to? Anything else involved? Where do you get headliners?

You can get the headliners from legendary, ebay, year one and a host of other places. I just did mine a few months ago and its not as easy as I thought. I had a hair dryer and two space heaters in the car. I was sweating like a dog in there for days. Viagra couldn't get the wrinkles out of that thing. IMHO its not worth the trouble and I would get a pro to do it for a few extra dollars. I've done plenty of restorations and that was a B@%CH of a job!

But I still need to get the bows for the roof? Do I need to get the headliner before I talk to them?
I have heard before that headliners are a pain in the a--. I would love any ideas from people that have been there.

Been there. It's not a walk in the park but very doable with patience. Tougher if glass is in. Legendary sells a headliner kit to go from cardboard to cloth - which presumably would include the bows and other doodads required.

I did 3 headliners in my past darts.very easy for me being a carpet layer knowing how to stretch it into place took me maybe 2 hours to fit glue the sides.Yes walk in the park.

But it looks hard to me. Engines and t/f's don't scare me but because I've never done one, the headliner looks very difficult. Maybe because I always manage to screw something up when learning. Great car 440.

70Duster440 I looked at your build website. Fantastic is an understatement on your build. I bet I stared at your new dash for 15 minutes. Wow!! You mentioned that the company is now out of business. Just my luck. Again, great job.

Don't sweat it too much. A TF rebuild probably made you nervous the first time too. Worse case, you screw it up and have to buy a new one. You won't though if you take your time.

Its alot easier with the glass out. I still has my back window in and it was a pain. The sail panels are very tough with the back window in.

Tarr,I redid my son's cardboard headliner in his duster about four years ago before he got the car from me using modern headliner material,I used the metal tape for doing a/c ducts for a home to smooth over the seams and to fix the broken spots,3-m 90 spray glue sprayed onto the cardboard and to the head liner material and to this day it still looks awesome!!!!,p m me if you need more details.I also have a full set of the head liner bows if you go that route,you have to start in the front and work your way to the back,you also need the wires for stretching that hook to the back bow(comes with the top bows)not as hard as it seems,e mail me if you need more info, you can do it either way!there are pic's of the waggin's headliner in my gallery.I will try to post a pic of it,I used pcv board (they make signs out of this stuff)very lightweight and wheatherproof.P.M. me either way might be helpful to ya.8)
