Door handles that is. Just toying with the idea. Has anyone on the board done this to their A body? or any other car? Just wondering what and where you get parts for this type of thing. Any tech articles, pics would be great.
The Habs lost tonight so now I can get on with my life. :angry7:

hmm I'm somewhat interested in this to I was considering this or ebody door handles.

Yea, I did this to my Shadow. Make sure you have a second way in. (The Shadow is a hatch back) Once the actuator for the door jammed and fried the base unit, and you have to be careful and always watching before you pop the door open. You need to wire in the door solenoid and possible a popper to push the door open a little as the door solenoid opened the door. It does give a nice clean look.

I got a little shave crazy when I started.....door handles, locks, mirrors, marker lights, drip rails, trunk lock and all the trim. The door handles were a pain in the A$$ since it was the first time doing it. I got a very nice kit from Auto-Loc.......you get what you pay for on these kits.

Gonna retro fit some later model handles before paint though, I dont care for the no door handles look anymore. The 2nd pic is of the trunk actuator......which is staying.

Hey Sparky, haven't seen ya around lately.

Terry
I check in every day Terry, just busy with yard stuff and golf and now I am stripping off casing and base board in preparation for ceramic tile and hardwood. Have not licensed my car or even splashed water on it yet. Supposed to go to a car show this coming Saturday but I think I will most likely be moving furniture and cleaning up and getting ready to paint ...yipes..

Looks great without the drip rails. Could you estimate how many hours you spent removing that? Looks clean!

20 hrs or so.....cut small pieces off at a time then weld in small sections. The time includes a very light skim coat of filler. Could have done it faster but makin sure as to not warp it

Yup. I'm happy with the way it looks on mine - though I realize it's not for everyone.
