Just saw this somewhere, tool steel lifters with diamond like coating. Used carbide ball cutters with this coating for profiling molding surfaces and shut offs on plastic molds, 20,000 rpm and 400 inches per minute feed. .0002 of this coating on the cutter, super hard and wear resistant, super slippery and lasted forever with.06 deep cuts and no coolant, just air. I would think these lifters are cutting edge technology and the best part is coating them is relatively affordable as this coating has become commonplace. We started having our spade bits coated. Running them 100 Sam at.01 feed per revolution cut are drilling time to 1/10 of uncoated bits up to 2.75 hole diameter when a 50 hp motor boring bar would have problems driving larger bits.
