74 Dart Swinger
I was a little suprised today when I visited the magazine rack at Wal-Mart and saw a 1974 Dart graceing the front cover of the April issue of Classic Cars and Parts. The smaller print says; "A Classic Car For Under $10K". The car is also on the contents page of the issue as well as having its own 6-page spread inside. Some of the specifications they list for the car are as follows;
- number built, 263,467
- construction is unibody
- engines, 198, 226, 318, 360
- power/torque
198= 95hp/145lb-ft
225= 105hp/180lb-ft
318= 150hp/255lb-ft
360= 245hp/320lb-ft
- wheelbase, 111 inches
- weight, 3,330lbs
- 0-60mph/quarter mile (318) 9.6 sec/16.8 @80mph
- MPG. 13-17
- price, MSRP $3,518 (Dart Swinger Hardtop) Today- $3,600 to $8,950
- alternative car in 1974 were the Pontiac GTO (looked like a Nova) and the AMC Javelin
- they list 4 web-sites as good references and none of them were this site, for shame!
