Hi,

Have a 72 /6 with auto tranny and am installing an A833 over-drive. What issues will I encounter with the crank?

Regards,

Maybe none. But it's possible that the crank wasn't drilled deep enough for the standard bronze pilot bushing. If that's the case, you'll have to trim the end of the input shaft snout and use a later style pilot bearing (from a Dakota or the like) instead of the bronze bushing. The bearing fits in the larger diameter crank recess, Brewer's sells a couple different types.

FWIW I used the bigger pilot bearing ( fits the torque converter register ) for my swap and didn't have to shorten the input shaft on my 73 /6.
If you have it apart you should be able to see where the old bearing rode on the input shaft and then can measure the depth of the hole in the crank based on where the bearing would be to see if you'll have to cut the input shaft.

Thanks Guys, That's what I needed to hear. If anyone else has done a "newer" /6 swap with four speed into a 62 Valiant feel free to comment.
