Didn't know that till today, and figured you might not know either.

That's pretty cool. It is the 21st century, after all.

Autozone? Really? Well, that leaves me kind of cold. I mean it's bad enough walking out of the store with the wrong part, now we can through in shipping charges and third party billing, to boot. Great. :sad3:

Finally.....for me the nearest autozone is 45 mins away and I always have to order everything for an old mopar and then go all the way back 2 days later to pick it up ....this way they can just ship it to my door ....that is why I have come to a point where I buy almost everything from ebay anyway. The local stores never have much in stock and its usually a better deal online even with shipping and then I don't have to go into public and wait in lines with people I would rather not see who are coughing all over everything and scratching their butts while in line ....nice and big and smelly.

That is awesome if I can do some one stop shopping without coming in contact with any humans.

don't get me wrong though ...I am actually a very friendly person ....I just don't like wasting time in stores

I think somehow if you get the wrong part online, it probably ain't the store's fault.

I don't care that much about the delivery part of it because the store is so close.
If I use my Paypal account for my car stuff the wife doesn't know how much I spend on it. :-D

Also, if you use Paypal they don't call you but email that it is ready for pickup.
Then you print that email and take it with you to pick up the part/parts.

I wanted a white faced tach and really didn't want her pissin and moanin about it.

OOps

MAN I'm messin all up :)

(Accidental double post) AND quoted Rusty

COOL!
Less than an hour and the ready for pickup email came.

So it's all about deception for you. Ok. lol

I just don't understand having to deceive your spouse.....There MUST be something wrong with ME

just do what the men in my culture do .......pull her hair and say "woman I am getting the tach and you are not going to say anything but getting back into that kitchen and make me something to eat"

LOL.....just kidding ....if you need help with your deception let me know....we can do a "FABO carwash laundering" system to help you guys out that want to stay on the "low low".

It's not really quite what y'all might think (or maybe it is)
The agreement was that if I was willing to spend some of my spare time making some extra money for my car stuff then fine.

Now that I'm spending some extra income time, she want's in on the cash even though she knows that was the deal. (I still get stuff for her with some of it)

So lets just say it's best for her that she not know.

It's not like I feel I have to hide it or anything, just don't see the point in waving it under her nose.

I understand ...in a way I do that with my parents ....sometimes I feel guilty spending so much on car stuff when I live at home rent free....even though they don't say anything and when I tried to move out they wanted and encouraged me to stay home .....but still I am supposed to be a "responsible" "adult" so I shouldn't be spending so much on a hobby....but that is one perk I am getting from being single and because I don't have any kids ...but still, a lot of times I don't like to blab out loud how much some of this stuff costs .....as many of you well know some parts can get quite expensive......like $500. 4 speed console top plates which is just the tip of the iceberg =P~

Advance Auto Parts has had the PayPal option for well over a year. I use their 25% off $50 or more and $25 on next purchase over $50 discount offers all the time. I had a special 35% off code the other day but I didn't need anything. The current is now 15% plus the regular $25 off $50.

I buy it on line and pick it up at the local store. If the store doesn't have it in stock then I call the store and they get one in stock so I can buy it.

Exactly.

The difference between being married and single is that the voice that asks if you really need that part is "internal" in the single person and "external" in the married person. I am single and don't listen to that voice all the time. I have heard at swap meets,"Gee, I really want that part but I would have to go and ask the wife for the checkbook, guess I will pass on the part." Just recently Autozone came into this area, have one about 30 miles away and one 40 miles away. How are they about getting parts and prices?
When I did the scarebird brake kit, I ordered all the parts from Rock Auto, as I figured the difference between shipping and gas for 2 or 3 trips to auto parts wouldn't be that much.

if you play autozone against another supplier like O'reileys ...you can get the prices really good ...they all do the parts price match guarantee....so if you play the system you can get the higher quality parts for same prices as the econo at the other store......of course ordering online changes that but if you are ordering online then that brings other competition to the table such as jegs, summit, and ebay.

That's about the size of it.

Autozone does a pretty darn good job, here anyway.
I always know the part number I want before I go, but I let them look it up anyway and just verify it by the number.
Thier prices are good overall, and I also buy from Jegs or Summit depending on what I'm looking for.

Between the three of them I always find what I'm looking for.

Oreilys here always screws something up so I won't buy from them anymore.

Autozone is horrible here and Advance is a close second. With either one of them I order what I want on line and then go get it. I have great luck with Oreilly's and NAPA because they actually hire people with car knowledge instead of computer geeks.
