Starting to collect parts to convert the wife's YJ into a real Jeep. I need a 94 and newer AX-15 5 speed with bellhousing, T case would be nice to but not required.

A rebuilder is fine, needs to be complete though with bellhousing.

Cash in hand

Thanks
Ed

P.S. will have the 23 spline output on the trans, 21 spline is for the 2.5L and is a AX-5

Ed,

Are the 4-banger Dakotas with the 5 speed the same as the jeep trans? There's a red 98' dakota 4-cyl 5-speed at u-pick it in flagstaff (there was 3 weeks ago anyways). I was under the impression they were ax-15's or that might the 3.9'trans, idk. But anyways, just a tip:)

i think some years and engine combo's were, but i think they had different gearing, not 100% sure. i know the XJ sometimes had the AX-15 trans. I'll look into it more and see, lot more options then

i have a jeep junk yard near me but they are so pricy...

I guess it is just a matter of location, rust and accidents from winter roads kill most of them here, but the powertrain and interior parts are usually ok.
