Are axle seals required with Green Bearings on aftermarket 8 3/4 axles?

I thought they were not required, but I see at Mancini's, they include them in their package.?????????

Now we have a difference of opinion here. Bob at Outrageously Vintage told me they are not needed. You have to put a little grease on the o-ring rubber seals on the green bearings and that will do the job.

You want to chime in here Bob and Cici? I want to make sure I did mine right before I start driving.

the "green" bearings are a sealed design, much like the ford 9", and they use seals. the seals are to keep oil from the bearing register area. even if you put a little grease on the bearing to seal the oil in the housing, you still could get leakage around the outside of the bearings. also, what happens when the grease you put on goes away? and when the bearings start to get a little wear?? leaks.

just run the seals.
