I need to get a 8 3/4 axle and I having trouble finding one for an A body in my price range. Im looking at one out of a 68 fury II, how much is the difference in length? Can I just move the spring perches or do I also have to shorten the axle tubes and what is involved with that?

Thanks

..................If its 4 an A body, the fury is quite abit wider............need 2 shorten........axles should b long enough 2 get resplined.......kim.....

Like Kim said there's a big diff. in them. It takes a jig to narrow a rearend and their pretty expensive. Last time I checked it was $500 for a jig. Your best bet is to find a machine shop that can do it. That generally costs in the $225-350 range depending on prices where you are.

I have two housing narrowed..cost just under 200 bucks including new axles seals.

The driveline shop cut and reuses the housing ends....and yes they need to have the jig to end the housing ends square...
